Everyone has dressed for the occasion. The room is full. Your friends are there. The people you have spent the year learning beside are gathered around the edge of the floor.
Then your music begins. You step onto the floor with your partner. You take the embrace. You settle. And then you dance.
For a few minutes, the floor belongs to you. This is your chance to be the spotlight.
From Class Material to Performance
The Performance Arc
In class, we often study tango one piece at a time. A movement. A technical problem. A musical idea. A new possibility.
The Performance Study is where those pieces become something larger. You will work on an entrance that establishes presence before you move, transitions that connect one idea to the next, stillness that feels intentional, momentum that builds without rushing, musical contrast, moments of surprise, a strong crescendo, and a clear, satisfying ending.
We call this the Performance Arc. It is the difference between knowing a collection of movements and knowing how to carry an entire dance from beginning to end.
How You Develop Confidence
From building to performing.
October
Build it.
Choose your music, identify the material you want to feature, and begin shaping your dance.
November
Develop it.
Work on transitions, musical choices, timing, and the overall shape of the piece.
December
Refine it.
Run the dance again and again. Clean up details. Strengthen entrances, pauses, crescendos, and endings.
January
Perform it.
Dress up. Step onto the floor at the Grand Milonga. Let the room go quiet. Then dance.

Already have a tango you love? Bring it. Have no idea what you want to perform? That is completely fine. We will help you choose your music, understand the lyrics, and dance the feeling of your song.

Study your dance through video

Over four months, you’ll be able to see the dance take shape and watch your own dancing become clearer, more confident, and more refined.
Your Final Performance Film
Something to keep.
Your January performance will also be recorded. Whenever possible, we capture the dance from multiple angles and create an edited film of your finished performance.
So at the end of the study, you do not just have the memory. You have the dance. Something to keep. Something to show friends. Something you can watch years later and remember exactly who you were as a dancer at that moment.
A Few Questions You May Be Asking
Common questions.
What if we miss a week?
That is okay. The study runs across almost four months specifically so there is room for travel, holidays, illness, and scheduling conflicts. You will still perform.
How often are Private lessons?
We hope you schedule every two weeks from Oct - Dec, and if you need additional lessons, they are available upon request.
Do we have to choreograph everything?
No. We will shape the material you already know into a complete dance and develop key moments, transitions, entrances, and endings. It should still feel like tango.
What if we do not know what music to choose?
We will help. Choosing the right tango is part of the study.
What if we are nervous about performing?
That is normal. You will have months to rehearse the same dance until it feels familiar. By performance night, you will know it deeply.

Participation Requirements
Only three couples
are accepted each year.
To participate, dancers must:
- Register with a partner
- Be current Level 3 students, or have at least three years of training with Two Flame
- Commit to all six private performance lessons
- Must drive to Bountiful for the private lessons
- Continue attending regular Two Flame classes during the study
- Practice together between lessons
- Be available to perform at the Grand Milonga in January
Participation is subject to instructor approval.

Media Release
Photography and recording.
Lessons, rehearsals, and the final performance may be photographed or recorded.
By registering, you give Two Flame Tango permission to use this media for future website, social media, educational, promotional, and archival purposes.
If you do not want your image or video used publicly, please notify us in writing before your first lesson.
