Continuing Study

Somatic Tango School

For dancers who want more than new steps.

This isn't a course you finish. It's a practice you grow into.

Explore Weekly Study

Most dancers spend years collecting figures.

Eventually they discover that more choreography doesn't create better tango.

The dancers everyone remembers are not the ones who know the most patterns. They're the ones whose embrace feels effortless, whose movement is clear, and whose musicality makes every dance feel alive.

That is what we study.

Our school is built for dancers who want to deepen their relationship with tango through the body. Every class develops coordination, balance, connection, musicality, and improvisation as one integrated practice.

Every week

Weekly Study

Monday

6:30–7:30 PM

Tango Foundations

Everything begins with how you move. We refine walking, balance, axis, embrace, musicality, and the essential vocabulary of social tango. These classes reveal new layers every year because the fundamentals never stop becoming more sophisticated.

Tuesday

6:30–7:30 PM

Tango Mechanics

Develop a body that makes tango easier. Through spirals, coordination, weight transfer, elasticity, and principles from the Alexander Technique, you'll discover how less effort creates more expression.

Tuesday

8:00–9:00 PM

Tango Intermediate Figures

Apply those principles to the dance itself. Explore advanced movement, improvisation, and complex vocabulary while maintaining comfort, elegance, and connection with your partner.

Thursday

7:00–9:00 PM

Milonga del Alma

Practice what you've learned in a relaxed social setting. Because tango is learned with people—not just in class.

What We Practice

Practice 1

A Coordinated Body

Beautiful tango begins before you take the first step. Learn to organize your body with greater balance, freedom, and efficiency so movement becomes expressive instead of effortful.

Practice 2

An Embrace People Love

The embrace isn't a position. It's an ongoing conversation of listening, timing, weight, and trust. Develop the sensitivity that makes every partner feel comfortable, supported, and connected.

Practice 3

Musicality

Rather than memorizing where to step, you'll learn to hear the structure of the music and allow it to guide your movement. The orchestra becomes your teacher.

Practice 4

Improvisation

Social tango isn't choreography. It's the art of responding. As your body becomes more coordinated and your listening becomes more refined, improvisation begins to feel effortless.

Experienced Dancers

Schedule an Evaluation

Have you been dancing for years but feel there's another level waiting? We welcome experienced dancers from every background. Rather than focusing on how many years you've danced or how many figures you know, we look at how you move, how you connect, and what you're hoping to develop.

A Lifetime Practice

The dancers we admire most aren't defined by difficult movements.

Clarity.
Ease.
Presence.
Musicality.

And an embrace that makes every partner feel at home.

If that's the direction your tango is taking, we'd love to welcome you into our school.
